Found this tee shirt recently. Its from a quote by Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch, he claims he enters Beast Mode as a mindset before games, from what i’ve seen its working pretty well. So far this season Marshawn Lynch has 750 yards and 6 touchdowns and he has been the statistical leader for the Buffalo Bills all season. Defense wins championships. For the St. Louis Cardinals, pitching lead them to a World Series victory last year. The staff included Cy Young runner-up Chris Carpenter, Mark Mulder, Jeff Weaver, and Jeff Suppan. Along with the four starters was hard throwing closer Jason Isringhausen who suffered a season ending injury in September. The Cardinals lost Suppan when he signed a 4-year 42 million dollar contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in late December. Suppan was a key starter throughout the season and started game four in the World Series. Then the Mariners, who were in need of a game winner, signed Jeff Weaver to a one year contract worth 8.3 million. Weaver was a big part in the St. Louis Cardinal’s World Series victory win going 3-2 in the postseason. Carpenter, the Cardinals’ ace, agreed to a contract extention through five years early this month. Isringhausen should come back strong for the 2007 season, but with the loss of Suppan and Weaver, the Cardinals will look upon Carpenter, Mulder, and young gun Anthony Reyes to bring them back to the World Series.

The ring. The trophy. The glory. All of these pretty much sum up the ideas around being a part of the Super Bowl. There is no greater feeling then holding up the Lombardi trophy and telling the camera you’re going to Disneyland. But for those who experience victory, the glory does not end. Whether in the Hall Of Fame or in the hearts of millions, the heroes and legends that are a part of a Super Bowl victory will be remembered forever. Hey guys! With the Super Bowl next weekend, I have came up with the best of the best of the last 40 years of Super Bowl magic. Nail biting games to complete blowouts, I will combine the best performances with the worst to give you the greatest memories of the past 40 years of the Super Bowl. Whether it’s the knee injury he had 5 years ago or the constant failure of the offensive line, Willis McGahee has not lived up to his potential in Buffalo. Going from being one of the best running backs in college football to a mediocre, average back in the NFL is not what the Buffalo Bills expected. The Bills took a huge risk in drafting McGahee in 2003 in a late first round pick after he suffered a terrible knee injury in the National Championship game against Ohio State. McGahee set all sorts of records at Miami and was projected to be in the top 10 of the draft, but his injury led many people and coaches to believe that he would never be as good as he once was. They were right.
Drafting McGahee after such a severe injury wasn’t only a mistake, but ridiculous considering the Bills already had two-year veteran Travis Henry who had rushed for over 1,000 yards in the pervious season and was doing a great job in the backfield. After being drafted, the Bills spent the whole year rehabilitating with McGahee, who did not get one snap in his whole rookie season. After taking over the backfield in 2004, McGahee has his only good season in his career with over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns. Where were those numbers this year? The past two seasons, McGahee has only had a combined 11 touchdowns and failed to rush over 1,000 yards this past season. Not only that, but McGahee does little in the backfield to protect Losman. When he gets the ball, he often bounces around to find a hole and never can break more than a 20-yard run.
The Buffalo Bills running game has always been average. But with a high paid athlete like Willis, he should be rushing for more than 1,000 yards in a season. Along with that, McGahee often complains about playing and being in Buffalo. We don’t want you either Willis! Buffalo needs to trade or release McGahee and draft a 1st or 2nd rounder to back up Anthony Thomas, who showed a lot of talent as a backup. McGahee lacks talent, play-making ability, and class, and for all the money he’s making he should have at least more than two100-yard games like he had in this season. So Willis, take off your visor, hang up your cleats, and move out of Buffalo, because we know you don’t want to be here and frankly, we don’t want you here either.

It was a win for sure. After getting the ball back with a couple minutes to go, Peyton Manning developed an incredible drive to put the Colts in field goal position to win the AFC Championship game and advance to their first Super Bowl since 1971. Mike Vanderjagt set up to hit a field goal a little over 40 yards. And who seemed to be the most accurate kicker in our time, missed the field goal wide right and the Colts playoff run ended short like usual. Could this be a curse that a team with such caliber cannot make it to the big show? I mean, the Patriots, who are usually a lower seed in the playoffs compared to the Colts, have been there three out of the past five years. Before the defeat in the RCA Dome against the Steelers in 2006, the Colts have lost two years in a row to the Patriots. Will this be another year where Peyton and the boys come up short to the record of 11-1 that Belichick and Patriots have in the playoffs? I don’t think so.
In order to win the game on Sunday against the Pats, instead of relying on Peyton Manning to take it home, they must rely on their defense. And the Colts defense, that was ridiculed and blamed for most of their losses this year, has come up big in the playoffs and has saved Peyton Manning’s rear after he threw three interceptions in the game against KC and two more in last Saturday’s showdown in Baltimore. The Colt’s defense in their two playoff games this year have given up a combined 14 points. They shutdown Pro-Bowl running back Larry Johnson only allowing him to 32 yards and intercepted Trent Green twice in the first round of the playoffs. In Baltimore this past weekend, they only gave up a combined 83 yards on the ground to Jamal Lewis and Mike Anderson, and intercepted Steve McNair twice holding the Raven to six points. Although his numbers don’t show, Peyton is still putting points on the board thanks to his illustrious receiver core and power backs Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes. Peyton must contribute, but if the defense keeps playing the way they have been, the Colts will be packing their bags for South Florida for their first Super Bowl appearance since 1971.
Back to the game Sunday. Tom Brady, is indisputably one of the best quarterbacks in the league today and one of the most dangerous players in the playoffs. But he can be stopped. The Colts have never beaten the Patriots in post season play, but with their defense holding their opponents score in the single digits and Peyton Manning still moving the ball up and down the field, they will have their best chance on Sunday to show that they are not just a regular season powerhouse. However, Asanti Samuel is at the top of his game and Tom Brady knows how to win in the playoffs. On the other hand, the Colts, with their electrifying defense, seem to be the better team and playing at home are looking towards nothing but the Vince Lombardi trophy.
